How I Beat Imposter Syndrome

What’s up, everyone? Today, I want to share how I beat Imposter Syndrome!

Many of us feel like we’re not qualified or don’t deserve that money, raise, or job.

Maybe you tell yourself that you’re not good enough or don’t have the charisma to run a fund…

This is imposter syndrome, and it’s real.

I talk with clients at Fund Launch that have experience at Wall Street or Harvard and yet they still tell me they’re not qualified to run a fund yet.

They say they need 30 more years of experience – this is simply not true!

What they need is some confidence!

Fund Launch

A few years ago, I was running a debt fund and Mason and I started Fund Launch.

We charged $47 for the online course.

That was going well, then Mason asked if we could give the students the option to have a 1 on 1 call with me for $500.

I didn’t think anyone would be interested, so I agreed!

Well, someone actually booked a call and I got so nervous! I didn’t think I was worth $500 an hour.

But, I took the call anyways and I was able to help the client – so it turned out way better than I expected!

There are too many of us that are too afraid to start because they think they’re not good enough.

Know Your Worth

On the flip side, there are people who overvalue themselves.

I had an employee come to me and ask to be paid $400 an hour because he claimed it to be his worth.

Like I said in my video, I was all for it, but first, I wanted to see his tax returns last year.

If he was worth $400/hour today, according to my math, he should’ve made $800K last year.

He refused to show me his earnings, so we agreed on a lower salary.

Understand that although you think you’re worth x amount of dollars today, you might not deserve to earn that until you have proven it.

Jeff Bezos (and so many others) had to put in years of hard work before it finally paid what they were worth.

So, don’t be surprised if it’s the same for you!

How I beat Imposter Syndrome:

  • Start even if you’re afraid
  • Realize that you have unique experience/knowledge and leverage it
  • Prove yourself over time
  • Be humble; don’t overvalue yourself

If you’re done with Imposter Syndrome and finally want to start that fund, then meet with me or my coaches at Fund Launch!

That’s it for today!
